Good Toy - Needs Better InstructionsNov 13, 2011
By Linda Irwin We picked up this toy at our Children's Hospital Gift Shop to occupy our time when we arrived too early today.
I really like this toy with my 6 year old son.
The Pros are that it is sturdy and easy for him to work with.
The Cons are that the instructions with the set are not good. The box says it makes over 10 projects but the instructions come with TONS of pictures for all the sets. 118 piece and 100 piece sets. The one we purchased was only the 78 piece set. So we had to try to figure out which of the things we could build. We found a few. But it frustrated my son badly that all the awesome things - he could not make with his set. I wish they would have only included the instructions for what we could make. Even with more - we could not figure out so we just built the ones we saw on the box.
Now he is wishing for more so he can make all the other things we saw. Nice marketing strategy but makes me a tad annoyed.
The other thing is it comes with a tool but you never really use it. Just twisting with your fingers works much better. But for a kid to "play" it is ok.
This is a nice toy. I do like it. I probably will purchase the bigger set so we can actually enjoy it better. Skip the 78 piece if you can afford the bigger sets.
He is enjoying building his own creations so it is not like I regret buying it. Just wish they would have not been so unclear with the instructions.
