Quick and easy modelApr 20, 2010 I bought this as a present for my 12 year old son. He was able to put it together in about 30 minutes and now displays it hanging from his bedroom ceiling. It is an easy introduction to model building for kids and the finished product is worthy of display.
He was slightly disappointed that it really isn't a play airplane, it is a model and designed to be built and displayed, not played with.

Happy GrandsonAug 21, 2009 We had gone to the Detroit Air Show and the Phantom F4 was the only plane my grandson wanted. We couldn't find one. When we got home, we immediately got on the internet to Amazon and found just what he wanted. We were able to surprise him with it. Thank you so much!!

Easy to build, Great realism, Even though it's not a USMC F4, it's Outstanding!Apr 07, 2009 Even though I think it'd be a pretty cool thing to do, I'm probably not going to spend the time building a 1/4th scale F4 Phantom from scratch. I just don't have the time to do something like that right now.
How big would a 1/4th scale Phantom be? I'd put it at a little over fifteen feet lengthwise, about as long as a small car. The wingspan would be a little under ten feet. Wouldn't that be really great?
You might be able to build it from different materials readily available at your local Home Depot. The calculations involved and the actual machining would take a long time and be a big effort to get exactly right; Otherwise, you could easily end up with something that looks amateurish. However, if done the right way, the resulting model would be nothing short of magnificent!
It'd be a project that would require total dedication! Job, family and friends will be required to take a backseat for a while. Sacrifice! Say goodbye to life as you once knew it!
...On the other hand, that's why E-Z Build sells models like this. So guys like me don't get carried away, by getting involved with projects that are almost overwhelming in scope. E-Z Build's F4 Phantom won't require a separate garage, and it's not a modeling project that will take years to complete.
Taking my good old time, it took me about ten minutes to put everything together and then put it up on my bookshelf, where it sits now. As a fan of the F4 Phantom, and the pilots and RIO's that manned them, I have to admit that I'm impressed by this model. The camoflage paint scheme is authentic, as are the retractable landing gear.
Two suggestions: (1) There should be Navy and Marine Corps editions and (2) Even if the retail price were a few bucks more, the model should also contain the two aux fuel tanks and sidewinder and sparrow missiles.
Overall, a great buy for someone who doesn't want to spend $50.00 and upward for a metal diecast version of the F4 Phantom.
