Cheaply made, not much fun, eitherMay 20, 2009
By Monica J. Kern I bought this kit for my son's 10th birthday. He started building it eagerly, but was quickly flummoxed by plastic pieces that either kept popping out of where they were supposed to go (the long narrow panels that open up at the top of shuttle) or broke off entirely (the wheels).
The assembly is indeed "E-Z," taking maybe only 10 minutes. But given its rather flimsy nature, there's not much you can do with it after assembling the darned thing other than look at it. In retrospect I wish I had bought him a more challenging kit that would have represented a more substantial accomplishment.

Flimsy, poorly designed, poor instructions, missing pieceDec 29, 2011
By David M. Carter Great, apart from the missing tail piece, the component that is unusable because of the missing tail piece, the component not mentioned in the instructions whose use you have to figure out for yourself having taken the whole thing to bits again, the doors that don't fit properly, the front wheel that wouldn't slot into place and then broke, and the solar panel that keeps coming off. I bought this item in the shop at the NASA Ames Research Center, of all places; let's hope the real thing is of sturdier construction.

Cheap Toy-not worth the money!May 26, 2010
By Family of Boys I agree with the other review. I was deeply disappointed. It may look okay but that is about it. Cheep plastic with pieces that have a tendency to break. The wheels have never stayed on. Several of the screws were hard to get in/fit right. After a day of little play, we already had some of it break. If you want something just to look at, this would be fine. If you want to handle or play with at all, look elsewhere.
nice space shuttle replicaAug 24, 2011
By shopper My son was really interested in the space shuttle after seeing the last launch on TV. Found this model for a great price online. A little assembly which was cool, and nice replica for his dresser. A little astronaut figure not particularly to scale, but "Astronaut" is now on his list of dream professions (even though it wouldn't a shuttle he was flying in). Great buy and inspiration.
great way to spend an afternoonJul 08, 2011
By Dad My son and I had so much fun building this kit. His sense of accomplishment, and ability to follow the instructions with little guidance, was great. Stands up to minor pretend play (not many moving parts), but overall the building experience was well worth it!
