False Advertising?Apr 07, 2010
By Spectral Knight Having seen the pictured replica, and being a huge fan of both the F-14 Tomcat in all its forms and the Jolly Rogers squadron, I was hoping for something gorgeous to put on my computer desk. The price tag seemed almost too good to be true. What arrived was... well, it definitely wasn't what was shown, or what I thought I was ordering.
I've seen these cheaply made, badly-detailed planes selling in stores under different names for the better part of two decades. The only thing that changed with this version is that the basic tail markings and the angled stripe on the nose do fit the markings of the Jolly Rogers F-14s.
That's it for the good news, though. The detailing in the paint and landing gear is completely absent on this version: The only wing marking is a single red stripe down the length of the wing that clashes with the squadron markings, and the tailplanes are the same gray as the body, not white. The white stripe along the rear edges of the wings is also missing. The cockpit canopy is even blacked out in the rear half, making the plane look like a single-seat aircraft (which the F-14 never has been). The landing gear looks nothing like the picture, being too large and clunky, and the weapons mounts and nose sensor pod are entirely absent.
This is probably fun for someone somewhere, but it's definitely not for anyone looking for a quality model of the F-14, to say nothing of an insult to both the F-14 and the Jolly Rogers. Worse yet, the image has probably sucked in other buyers thinking they're getting a drool-worthy model plane with an authentic paint scheme and oodles of detail. I'm definitely returning this at first opportunity.
Que Decepcion! No te estrelles comprando éste Avion!May 10, 2011
Not exactly as advertisedNov 17, 2010
By Eduardo Ceballos This aircraft is good looking, cheap, but detailed. Something that I don't like is the fact that the picture do not match with the real airplane. The landing gear is "toy looking" in the pic the front gear is double and the real one is a ugly grey single big wheel. In the pic the plane has weapons under wings.... the fact is... no weapons at all. Must change the pic for a real one that match that we're going to receive.
