Wonderful way to introduce a young man to model buildingAug 30, 2009
By Jerry Saperstein My grandson has hit that marvelous age where he expressed interest in building models.
He's not ready for the tedious process of putting together models with dozens or hundreds of parts, painting and detailing them.
So I looked for something suitable and am surprised and delighted with the quality of the InAir E-Z Build products.
The SR-71 kit consists of 12 pieces, enough to convey the basic feeling of model building, but no so many as to be confusing or too complicated.
The pieces are surprisingly detailed. All the markings are pre-applied. In the case of the SR-71, even the unit insignia is included.
The model snaps together and the fit of the pieces is quite good. Eight supplied screws hold the pieces together.
The model itself is durable and could be used for day-to-day play. However, the landing gear and rudder surfaces are almost guaranteed to snap off with any even moderately aggressive handling. So you or your young one might want to keep the unit displayed on the supplied displayed stand.
I really enjoyed helping my grandson put this together and am looking forward to building many others in this series. Good products and an excellent way to introduce a young person to model building.
