Great but missing a key pieceJan 01, 2010
By Mom and Teacher This is exactly what I was looking for, a fruit and veggie set that shows how the food is made ie. with a peel or leaves that have to be removed. The only draw back is that it does not include a play knife to "cut" and prepare the food. It states it has a real sound when cut, but it does not include a knife. Thankfully my daughter also received the slice and bake cookie set by Melissa and Doug which did include a play knife that worked with this set.
Fun to peel but not much to sliceMar 15, 2012
By BenjiMama I thought this food was a neat idea but it is a lot of pieces to clean up! My 18 month old loves taking them apart but not putting them back yet so I am constantly cleaning these up. I'm still glad I got them but they aren't quite how I imagined. I thought that once you peel them you can slice them but most pieces are just for peeling and not slicing. Also they are hard to fit back together just right. We have another set that is just slicing fruits and I like that better because the food is just two pieces and it's fun to cut them with the pretend knife. However, my son does enjoy peeling these and I bet he will like them as he gets older and can figure out how to put them back together. The price was good for these except there is no knife so I'm glad we got the other set that came with one. I don't think they should call these slice-a-rific without a knife to slice them! These should be peel-a-rific instead because that's really mostly what they are anyway.

By AMM I got these for our 21mo son and he LOVES them! He enjoys "cutting" the items and can identify most of them at this point. Very worth the money.
