Pretty Cheap ToyAug 30, 2010 Make no mistake, my son was thrilled to get this toy. But it is VERY cheaply made. We have only had this a week, and I have already had to throw away several pieces that have broken off the shuttle.
Buy this toy, but do so with eyes wide open.
Not happyMar 19, 2010 It is difficult to re-attach the orbiter to the external fuel tank, then it falls off very easily. The rocket boosters and fuel tank do not separate from each other. If your kid knows that the boosters separate before the fuel tank separates, you are in for some explaining. I wish I would have searched longer and paid more for something better. My three-year-old loves this toy, but gets frustrated with it. Also, the fuel tank should be brown, not orange. I know, I am a nerd, but if you are too, then you do not want this toy.
Realistic modelFeb 16, 2010 We bought this toy for our 4 year old son. He been watching documentaries and youtube videos and knows more about the space shuttle than most adults. He loves that it looks just like the real thing; it has the two white boosters, fuel tank, and crawler transporter, cargo bay, etc. Because it is small he carries it everywhere he goes, as a result the cargo bay is holding on with the help of rubber bands. We also bought him a more durable imaginext space shuttle, he'll play with that from time to time but he prefers this one. If you are buying this for a child that is really into the space program they will love the details and the portability, but if they aren't as aware of the space program get them a more durable toy.
My son loves it!Feb 09, 2010 This is perfect for my 5 year old who is extremely interested in everything to do with Space, Planets, and Rockets. He takes it everywhere. It blasts off at least 10 times a day. The only durability issue is with the three main engines, two of them have already broken off because they are so small. Overall though, I would buy it again because my son is such a Space fan.
best shuttle I found...Feb 07, 2010 My son is obsessed with "blast-offs" and picked out this toy as a special reward. It has brought countless hours of delight and play. I will agree with the other reviewers that it is cheaply made and there is very little actual metal (mostly plastic); however, it has not broken or caused any problems. I definitely think the price is a little high considering the quality, but I simply could not find another realistic space shuttle with these features. If your child is really into space shuttles I think it is worth it, otherwise I would probably skip it.
