 Fun, but elephant is too dark!Jan 11, 2009

This is overall a good-quality, fun toy. My 2 year old enjoys playing with it and she uses her imagination by making the animals "talk" to each other. Great alternative to the noisy plastic toys that have taken over the market.
My only complaint is that the elephant is MUCH too dark. It's pretty much navy blue. The details are made up of black lines and the lines that make up the ears, for example, are virtually impossible to see.
It's fully compaitble with the brand-name wooden train sets by Brio, Imaginarium, Maxim, Thomas, etc, as well as the generic ones. This toy takes great abuse and I have not experienced any damage like paint chipping off or pieces breaking or falling off (issues I've found with some generic sets). The colors are as bright today as they were when I purchased it 6 months ago. It's durable and not showing excessive signs of wear.
This toy does have fairly strong magnets. Little ones should be supervised so if one does happen to break off, it's not swollowed. I would not recommend this toy to a parent whose child puts everything in their mouth unless they are willing to have an adult present at all times.

i like this train set. i purchased it for my 3 year old daughter, and she loves it, as expected. in playing with it though, i find it doesnt hook up as well to the thomas cars she has, so she has to play with one set or the other, which, her being 3, pretty much guarantees i have to play with her or separate them out ahead of time. the animals are cute, and overall i do like it, just be aware of the not connecting well issue. i also noted that when you have the track set up to go under the risers (i.e. overpass) the animals have to get out of the train, they are too tall.

Now this was a great buy! My daughter just LOVES trains, and this one was just the perfect addition to her collection. It's durable, easily washable, and terriffic for imaginary play, concepts (magnets, etc..), and overall learning. I love this toy and I'm so glad we got it for her. Thank you!!

The train is fine, however, I think the seller should let us know the size of the item. Fairly important piece of info. The train is very small and not real easy for little fingers to manipulate. Also, if the darn thing is made in China, why not say so? China good, China bad, let me decide (it is made in China).

This train set is fun for my toddler son because he likes to put the animals in and out of the cars. It doesn't roll as well as some of his other trains on the wooden track set we have, so I keep it out for him to play with without the track. I would recommend this train if you're thinking of using it without a track.
