plastic model set. on plastic easy to bend rail tracks. sounds of the train are loud and good, kids love it. the turn on/off switch is in awkward position. setting up the carriages and locomotive on flexi tracks is not an easy task for even 7 year old. when need to be switched on/off the train can get off tracks easy. switch on classic powered Thomas engine toy is softer and on top, this one is at the bottom.
the transmission of locomotice is good and powerfull but rubber tyres on leading wheel set are getting off when a kid stops the train while trying to switch off that funny switch.

It is hard to beleive you can get such a cool train set for so little money. This is our second one. My son needed a diesel and a steam train.

Item and packaging looks great, but the cars are feather-lite and won't stay on the track, even when weights are added. Their are good sounds, but it's the same for a steam or diesel engine.

Could not ask for more with this set. Except maybe some accessory packs. But for the money you get the trains and plenty of pieces of track to make multiple configurations (pictured on the back). Cool train sounds and a neat glossary of interesting facts on the reusable box- nice detail added from this manufacturer. I think there are other varieties so I am going to buy more.

My four year old grandson LOVES Thomas and All things train. So he was especially excited to get this "Big Boy" train and the sounds made it even more special to him.
He quickly plummeted from excited to having a couple of meltdowns for a number of reasons. The first being that the lead train could not pull the other two cars while on the tracks. Secondly, there were areas where the lead train could not stay on the tracks even though it was the only one being used. The third melt down came after the back wheels on the lead train came off for the 3rd time and could not be fixed until I used a rubberband to hold them on.
The assembling of the tracks is relatively easy, but I think that a better grade of plastic would have held up better. Also I feel that a "C" or "D" battery would be better suited for the weight the train has to pull. Modifications, cost money, but superior made products generate more sales.
I thought about purchasing another set to see if two lead trains (battery operated) with the caboose(es) sandwiched in between them would be able to pull the two cars. I have since changed my mind and will continue to search for a better made product. I love that he was happy, but the whistles and bell sounds are so loud that after awhile, I wanted to have a meltdown of my own. lol
Parents spend a fortune on toys, so it would behoove manufacturers to make a product that lasts longer than a few hours because we we are repeat customers and we will tell Everybody we know when we find a great product.WowToyz Classic Train Set - Diesel Engine with Tankers
