extremely disappointingFeb 18, 2010 I wanted a basic, "first-time" kind of microscope for my 6 year old. It isn't very useable. The light shines directly up into eyepiece, renders it useless. The viewer is OK, but fuzzy. The extra pieces were sharp, and not appropriate for young kids, but the actual function as a microscope was nonexistent, so nobody would benefit from this. I wasn't expecting it to be a sophisticated piece of scientific equipment, just a toy, and it still let us down. I can't even give it away, it is so bad. Because I bought it so long before I gave it as a gift, I couldn't return it.

Terribly disappointedDec 26, 2008 I bought this toy for my eight year old son but I am extremely disappointed in the quality. The magnification is poor - there is no detail and using the eyepiece is almost impossible (I used the viewfinder instead). The entire thing feels cheap - light plastic. The two prepared slides that come with the set are a joke; not that you could use your own slides to any better effect. It is almost useless and will not be something that we will use together; I will have to purchase a different product.

I-Cube MicroscopeJun 16, 2008 I bought this microscope for my kids, ages 10, 7,5. The older 2 can't stop using it. It's easy to adjust and see the specimen. Obviously it does not magnify very high, but for elementary kids, it is a fascinating activity.
The plastic body does look a bit fragile, but for the price, a good product.
